Image 12 from Negative Strip 44: Dealey Plaza of a small crowd gathered behind a rope barrier

Original 35mm black and white negative taken by Dallas Times Herald staff photographer Andy Hanson. The image shows the crowd gathered on the west side of Houston Street reacting to the news that Lee Harvey Oswald was shot on November 24, 1963. The negative is on Kodak Tri-X Pan Film. This image is labeled #12 on section 2 of negative strip 44.The old TMS record for the images on this negative strip identified the photographer as Andy Hanson. Based on research conducted by collections intern Mark Davies in June and July 2012, curatorial and collections staff concluded that it is not possible to say at this time whether the photos of this strip and of Negative Strip 45 were taken by Andy Hanson or by Eamon Kennedy. We concluded that the photos were taken by one of those two men and both strips were taken by the same photographer.
