Image 20 from Negative Strip 32: Downtown, Carousel Club of a large CLOSED sign outside the club

Original 35mm black and white negative taken by Dallas Times Herald staff photographer William Beal. This image shows the entrance to the Carousel Club in downtown Dallas on November 22, 1963. A 'Closed' sign is hung below the pictures of performers Sal Vincent and Gail Raven. The negative is on Kodak Tri-X Pan Film. This image is labeled #20 on section 3 of negative strip 32.The old TMS record for the images on this negative strip indicate that the photographer was William Beal. Based on research conducted by collections intern Mark Davies in June and July 2012, curatorial and collections staff concluded that Beal did indeed take these pictures. He was accompanied by journalist Vivien Caslteberry, whose oral history confirms him as the photographer.
