Image 7A from Negative Strip 22: Dealey of a police detective speaking to reporters outside of the Texas School Book Depository
Original 35mm black and white negative taken by Dallas Times Herald staff photographer William Allen. This partial image shows Dallas Police Detective Marvin Johnson on the steps of the Texas School Book Depository with a Dr. Pepper bottle and also a bag containing chicken bones and a cigarette package on November 22, 1963. The Dallas Times Herald reporter, Darwin Payne, can be seen in the right side of the image. The negative is on Kodak Tri-X Pan Film. The partial image is labeled #6A on section 1 of negative strip 23.The old TMS record for the images on this negative strip indicate that the photographer was William Allen. Based on research conducted by collections intern Mark Davies in June and July 2012, curatorial and collections staff concluded that Allen did indeed take these pictures.
