Image 8 from Negative Strip 32: Downtown of an empty street in downtown Dallas

Original 35mm black and white negative taken by Dallas Times Herald staff photographer William Beal. This image shows the 1400 block of Commerce Street in downtown Dallas on the evening of November 22, 1963. The negative is on Kodak Tri-X Pan Film. This image is labeled #8 on section 1 of negative strip 32.The old TMS record for the images on this negative strip indicate that the photographer was William Beal. Based on research conducted by collections intern Mark Davies in June and July 2012, curatorial and collections staff concluded that Beal did indeed take these pictures. He was accompanied by journalist Vivien Caslteberry, whose oral history confirms him as the photographer. (Lindsey Richardson, 8/6/13)1400 block of Commerce St downtown
