Dell Heikes Oral History
Videotaped oral history interview with Dell Heikes. Heikes was shopping at Sanger-Harris department store in downtown Dallas and observed the presidential motorcade from a second-floor window. The following year, she married Dallas Times Herald photographer Darryl Heikes, who had covered the events of the Kennedy assassination weekend. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on Abril 23, 2008 by Stephen Fagin. The interview is eight minutes long.

Claudia Dell Heikes passed away on Diciembre 21, 2023. On the same day as her oral history, her husband, Dallas Times Herald photographer Darryl Heikes, recorded an interview about his experiences during the assassination weekend, photographing the Kennedy motorcade, the Tippit shooting scene and Lee Harvey Oswald in police custody. In 2014, Darryl Heikes returned to the Museum to participate in a reunion with other Dallas Times Herald photographers: Dallas Times Herald 1963 (youtube.com).
