Don and Joan Norwood Oral History

Videotaped oral history interview with Don and Joan Norwood. The son-in-law and daughter of the late Judge Joe B. Brown shared memories of his life and career, including the 1964 Jack Ruby trial. As an engineer at Ling-Temco-Vought in the early 1960s, Don Norwood had the opportunity to see John F. Kennedy during his visit to the LTV plant in Grand Prairie, Texas.Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on Agosto 22, 2019 by Stephen Fagin and Lindsey Richardson. The interview is one hour and thirty-two minutes long.

Joan Norwood's late brother, Joe B. Brown Jr. (1930-2013), was a longtime friend of The Sixth Floor Museum. Judge Brown Jr. recorded an oral history in 2004 and participated in three Museum programs, including a panel discussion that may be viewed on the Museum's YouTube channel: The Jack Ruby Trial: A Panel Discussion (youtube.com). The Museum's Judge Joe B. Brown, Jr. Collection includes personal items belonging to his late father, including multiple gavels and pipes, Ruby trial-related correspondence and papers, photographs and even the sign that hung outside of Judge Brown's courtroom at the time of the Ruby trial. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
