Copper-colored metal photo printing plate of J.C. "Carl" Day of the Dallas Police, carrying Lee Harvey Oswald's rifle to his car to be taken to police headquarters. The image is reversed to reproduce correctly on paper.Back side has "Rifle" and initials, possibly CP, written in grease pencil.The printed image from a portion of this plate appeared in the Dallas Times Herald on Noviembre 23, 1963.This image is a detail of a photograph taken by a Dallas Times Herald photographer and is represented in the Museum's Dallas Times Herald Collection on a contact sheet.

El donante Jack McNairy era estudiante de secundaria en 1963 y trabajaba a tiempo parcial en el Dallas Times Herald. Pocos días después del asesinato de Kennedy, McNairy se fijó en una pila de placas fotográficas recién usadas que habían sido tiradas a un contenedor para ser fundidas y recicladas. Intuyendo que estas placas fotográficas tenían un valor histórico, McNairy guardó todas las que pudo y las conservó durante cuatro décadas antes de donarlas al Museo de la Sexta Planta de Dealey Plaza.
