was a 21 year old working for the City Of Dallas in the Advanced Planning Zoning Department on November 22, 1963 when the Parade for President John F Kennedy and Jacqueline were scheduled at noon to turn onto Main Street from Harwood at the Dallas Municipal Building. During that morning, I went with other City Employees to a cafe on Elm Street at 9:00 AM when leaflets started falling off the top a building that were posters featuring John F Kennedy “Wanted for Treason”.

Shortlly before noon, I gathered with other City Employees across Harwood down the south side of Main Street to watch the Parade. When President John F Kennedy went by he was not smiling and I made the comment “He looks like he is going to his funeral”. Jacqueline was smiling brightly and waving. She was beautiful!

After that, we went back to City Hall and had lunch. Later there was an announcement on the intercom system that Kennedy was shot and then later that he was dead….

Some people left City Hall immediately, but I couldn’t leave due an appointment. My drafting desk in room 225 was at the window overlooking the entrance ramp into the basement of City Hall. During that appointment, “a police cruiser hit the bump at the basement entrance at such a high speed that I thought it would jump through the window”.

We immediately went down to the Police Basement. “Just as we got there, they were pulling Lee Harvey Oswald out of the cruiser. His face was bruised and he looked cocky. We watched them take him down a hall and we left.

When I Left City Hall, there was nothing on the street no people, no taxis, no cabs and no buses. I had to walk all the way to my apartment near Love Field.
