Howard P. Willens

A deputy assistant attorney general in the Criminal Division of the Justice Department, Willens became Assistant Counsel to the Warren Commission in December 1963. As part of the Commission’s supervisory staff, he went on an investigative visit to Mexico City in 1964 and played an extensive role in crafting the Commission’s final report. Willens later wrote the book History Will Prove Us Right: Inside the Warren Commission Investigation into the Assassination of John F. Kennedy (2013).
