Frequently Asked Questions

1) What is CSI Family Day and when will it take place?

CSI Day is the Museum’s annual family day program. Visitors will investigate a mock crime scene (unrelated to the Kennedy Assassination), examine a police report about the incident and perform forensic analysis at evidence stations staffed by University of North Texas Forensic Science students and staff, as well as volunteers from the Dallas Police Department and other organizations. Clipboards, pencils, and Evidence Collection Guides will be provided to assist in your investigation.

The 10th Annual CSI Family Day takes place on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 12 noon-5 p.m. and is a come-and-go, self-paced event.

2) What does it cost to participate in CSI Day?

Anyone who attends CSI Day must have both a $5 CSI Day program ticket and a general admission ticket.  (Children 5 and under can attend for free when they enter with an adult who has purchased a general admission and program ticket.)  You may not buy only a CSI Day program ticket; CSI Day tickets must be purchased in conjunction with a general admission ticket.

3) Are there discounted rates available for CSI Day?

Yes, for groups only.  Group tickets must be reserved in advance by filling out this form.  Once you fill out the form, it creates an email that goes to our Group Sales Coordinator, Ken Crump, who will later send you a confirmation email and a credit card processing form, so that you can pay in advance, which we require from groups.  It makes arrival on the day of the event so much simpler for you!

Group student prices (age 18 and below) are $10 each; Group adult prices are $15 each.  If you are a Girl or Boy Scout troop, please tell us the Troop Number and let us know the number of youth and adults in the Comments/Questions section of that form.

Group rates include a ticket to the Museum’s permanent exhibit on the Sixth Floor, John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation.  Please indicate on the form if your group would like to visit the exhibit before or after the CSI Day event.

4) How long does the event last?

The event opens at 12 pm and closes at 5 pm, but it is a come-and-go, self-paced event.  We generally suggest allowing 90 minutes for a family or group to examine the crime scene and visit all the evidence stations.

Special information for Groups:  We admit pre-registered groups every 30 minutes from 12-4 pm, so in the comments/questions section of the form, please indicate the three times most convenient for you to begin your CSI Day experience.

5) How do I get there?

If you are driving, the Museum’s address is: 411 Elm Street, Dallas, TX 75202.  Paid parking is available at the Museum’s parking lot via the entrances on Elm Street.

If you are planning to take DART, the Museum is located just two blocks from DART’s West End station.

6) Do I need to bring anything?

Just your detective skills!
