Dallas Locals

Whether you are Dallas born and raised, or a new Dallas resident– have you ever visited the Museum? Was it on a school field trip years ago? Has it been a place to send friends and family visiting from out of town? Maybe you’ve always wanted to visit but just haven’t found the time. New Yorkers don’t visit the Statue of Liberty, after all.

This November Advocate neighbors receive $10 off Museum admission.

$10 off admission for Advocate neighbors of all ages, must purchase online, must visit the Museum between October 30 and November 23, 2025. Museum admission when purchased online is regularly $22-adults, $20 Seniors and $18 for youth over 5 with a $1 transaction fee. Limit 4 tickets per transaction. Valid for online purchases through this special promotional offer only until November 23, 2025.

East Dallas Local

This May 1965 Greater Dallas Alphabetical Telephone Directory, Area Code 214, has a cover that East Dallas residents will recognize as a view of White Rock Lake. Residents like Eva Grant, Ruth Paine, Edwin Walker, Abraham Zapruder, Parkland Hospital, the Texas School Book Depository, the Texas Theatre, and the Vegas Club are listed in the phone book.

Preston Hollow Local

While not quite within Preston Hollow lines, its neighbors might recognize the location of this photo as Turtle Creek Boulevard, taken as President Kennedy’s motorcade proceeds along a ten-mile route that began at Dallas Love Field on November 22, 1963.

Lake Highlands Local

Lake Highlands neighbors may not recognize where this photo was taken on a local farmers land in 1967, but it is located on Hillcrest Road, completely unrecognizable today!

Oak Cliff Local

This street scene in Oak Cliff was taken on Jefferson Boulevard, looking east on November 22, 1963 as Lee Harvey Oswald is arrested at the Texas Theatre, next door to the Thomsen Furniture Mart. Oswald stayed in an Oak Cliff boarding house in 1963; after allegedly murdering Dallas Police officer JD Tippit at 10th and Patton Streets that day, Oswald fled to the theater.

Plano Local

Unfortunately, the Museum does not currently have images in its collections featuring Plano. Enjoy this photo of football star Roger Staubach, quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys from 1969-79. Staubach runs from defensive linebacker #76 Mike McCoy in a 1970 preseason game vs. the Green Bay Packers, at Cotton Bowl Stadium.
