Curatorial Note:

Beginning shortly after the Kennedy assassination and continuing into the 1980s, souvenir hunters chipped away at the brickwork surrounding the "sniper's perch" in the southeast corner of the sixth floor. This photograph, taken before restoration work was started, shows a great deal of damage to the bricks on the lower left side of the southeast corner window. Before the opening of The Sixth Floor Exhibit in February 1989, workers repaired the damage and returned the "sniper's perch" to its appearance on November 22, 1963. - Stephen Fagin, Curator
