This photograph appears to have been taken by Dallas Morning News chief photographer Tom Dillard from his position in Camera Car #3 in the Dallas motorcade. Directly behind Dillard's vehicle was Congressman's Car #1, which appears to be the vehicle seen here. The front passenger in this vehicle was Lubbock, Texas, Congressman George Mahon. In the rear seat, from left to right, was Lawrence O'Brien, special assistant to President Kennedy; Austin, Texas, Congressman Homer Thornberry; and Pampa, Texas, Congressman Walter Rogers. The vehicle visible behind Congressman's Car #1 was, naturally, Congressman's Car #2 and carried five more U.S. representatives in the Dallas parade, including Fort Worth Congressman (and future Speaker of the U.S. House) Jim Wright. -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
