Don Safran Oral History

Videotaped oral history interview with Don Safran. A screenwriter, journalist and onetime vice president of publicity for Columbia Pictures, Safran was a nightclub columnist at the Dallas Times Herald in 1963. He was acquainted with Jack Ruby at the time of the assassination. Interview conducted at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on April 21, 1995 by Bob Porter. The interview is one hour and five minutes long.

Don Safran passed away on February 17, 2014. In addition to his work as an entertainment journalist in Texas and California, Safran was co-founder of the USA Film Festival and worked in the marketing departments of both Columbia Pictures and Rastar Productions. Among his television writing credits was a 1978 episode of the popular television series Happy Days (1974-1984). -- Stephen Fagin, Curator
